Sweet 16, Baby
Super pumped about the big game on Thursday night. I just wanted to share a few funny text messages I received during and after the game yesterday...
Lori (end of first half): "Awesome."
Dad (halftime): "Good start, need more English"
Kelly (second half, toward the end): "Nerve racking" (He's a KU fan... I think he was just taunting me.)
(Game over...)
Lori: "Whew"
Jessica PB: "Whew"
Kelly: "Let's meet at the final four" (Bring it.)
Dad: "I'm sick to my stomach!" (Ditto!)
Patrick: "Megan is having contractions" (My cousin, Megan, is six months pregnant... for the record, she wasn't really in labor, but you get the point.)
Caldwell: "I nearly died."

St. Pat's Fun
We hosted a St. Pat's party at our house last Saturday night, along with the Blackburns. Lots o' green beer and good food... and the Big 12 championship to top it off! It was loads of fun! A little too much fun, I'm afraid, as I'm just finally recovered TODAY. Anyway, we had quite a good group of people - these are just a few pics of me and the girls before things got too crazy. :) (Oh, and yes, that bearded mountain man is my brother.)

What did we do to deserve such goodness?
Today has been one of those days in which everything has gone RIGHT. It's amazing. For starters, Matt and I had planned to go to Springfield today - we had a ton of errands to run, (and I had a hair appointment - very important), but as of last night we weren't sure if we were going to be able to go, as we were under a winter weather advisory, with anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow predicted for our area. It was supposed to start overnight and continue into the morning. When we went to bed we decided we'd just get up early, see how much it had snowed, and then decide whether we should go to Springtown. Turns out, it didn't snow a lick. It was perfectly fine for us to go, and we were out the door by 7 a.m.
Our first stop was Sam's Club - it was early enough that hardly anyone else was there, so we were able to sweep through quickly, checking off everything on our list without hassling with other shoppers - including at check-out, where we walked right up to a free checker. Stop #2 was Best Buy, where we went on a mission to buy a new receiver and indoor/outdoor speakers for our house. Again, it wasn't at all crowded, so we quickly found a knowledgeable employee, got a great deal and were out of there in less than an hour. After Best Buy came our only hiccup of the day - the rear right tire on the Xterra was nearly flat. What to do? We needed to find a service station, and fast. We pulled out of the parking lot, down a side street and found ourselves directly across from a Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express. We crossed the street and went in. At this point we had 45 minutes to spare before we had to head across town for my hair appointment. Amazingly, 45 minutes later (to the minute!) we were in the car, tire fixed, headed across town.
We only had time for a quick lunch, so we chose Qdoba. I've had one of their rewards cards ever since Q opened in Springfield (5 years ago?). Every time we eat there (not often enough!) I always swipe it, and once in a great while I get a free meal. TODAY was one of those days. Ahhhhh.
When we got home, the good luck didn't stop. Matt hooked up the new receiver and speakers without a hitch. It works and sounds great. Plus, we bought a new handheld vacuum today because ours just suddenly quit working. The old one had a wall-mounted charger, and so does the new one. We tried the new one in the old charger, to see if maaaaaybe it would fit. It did. So, we didn't have to take the old one down and mount the new one!
To top it off... Kansas lost today. Oklahoma lost today. Missouri is tied with Texas Tech right now at the half... Can they pull it off? We shall see.

2 reasons to love Sonic
1. Happy hour. In case you didn't know, you can get half-priced drinks from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sonic. I think this has been in effect for quite some time now, but I don't go to Sonic often enough to remember, so when I do stop in, it's always a nice surprise! For example, I was in Mountain Home a couple of days ago, and I whipped through the drive-thru for a tea. I drove out of there with a Route 44 iced tea for $1.03. CHEAP!
2. Breakfast burritos. They are delicious. I'm not big on fast food. However, when we're traveling in the car I do like to pick me up a sausage, egg and cheese burrito now and then. Plus, I think they serve breakfast all day. Bonus! I'll never forget when Sonic first introduced its breakfast - I was in college at Mizzou. I had tried a breakfast burrito in another town, liked it a whole lot, and just assumed all Sonics had breakfast. But, when I tried to order one in Columbia, the female voice on the other end said, "Whaaaaaat?" (I think she was stoned.) Anyway, I repeated my order, she paused for way too long and said, "We have a chicken wrap?" She actually said it as if she were asking me a question. No, lady, that isn't the same thing... Apparently, Sonic breakfast hadn't arrived in Columbia just yet. (Ok, it isn't as funny as when I tell the story in person...)
