Just saw a preview for Eclipse (the third movie in the Twilight series), and I hit the rewind button on the remote so I could watch it again. I can't wait! Matt and I rarely go to the movie theatre, but we will for this one. (He even likes them... he really does.) It opens June 30 at midnight, I believe. We won't be going opening night, but hopefully sometime soon after the July 4th weekend.
I've also been seeing commercials for the pretzel-filled M & M. Wow. I have to have some of those. I love pretzels and chocolate. I also love pretzels and peanut butter. Too bad it isn't a pretzel and peanut butter-filled M & M... they'd really be on to something there.
Megan and Patrick (my cousin and her hubby) had their little girl, Keaton Finley, today! I haven't seen a picture of her yet, but I hear momma and baby are doing well!
I just finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain (on loan from JPB)... It's told through the eyes/mind of a dog. Sounds kinda silly, I know, but it's good. It's sad, but not nearly as sad as Marley and Me, which left me sobbing uncontrollably at the end. It was a nice break from all the pregnancy books and manuals we've been reading lately.
Matt is cooking dinner tonight... all by himself. Don't get me wrong - he knows how to cook. But, I'm kind of possessive over the kitchen and cooking dinner, so I rarely let him have control in there. This evening, though, I just really felt like putting my feet up. He's grilling pork tenderloin and potatoes (a mix of white and sweet), fresh garden green beans and a salad. Yum.
A new season of Entourage starts this Sunday. Time to reinstate HBO!

Getting ready for Lola

When you don't feel like cooking...
Have you tried this? It's so good! I had one in the freezer for a while and kind of forgot about it... then I was looking for something to make for myself one evening when Matt was out fishing, and I found it. Here's the description: "broccoli, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, onions and garlic, mozzarella and provolone cheeses with a tomato pesto sauce on a wood-fired, thin crust made with Kashi 7 Whole Grains & Sesame and flax seed." It's not very big, but it was enough for dinner and lunch the next day for me. Yum!

Outdoor Living
Remember the flower pots I spray painted? Here they are with flowers in them!

I so wish I had a before picture here... I think this table and chairs set belonged to my Grandma Alice. It has been at this house for as long as I can remember, most recently out front, rusting away and forgotten. One day when Cal and Kate were here, Kate spotted it and said, "That could be really cute! If you just clean it up and paint it." Ever since she said that I kept thinking about it, and finally I made Matt drag it out so we could take a look at it. He power-washed it and knocked all the old paint off, then he spray painted the table white and the chairs lime green. It looks like new! So cute.

Our garden is growing! We planted a variety of peppers, large tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. That's it this year. I wanted to do more, but I just never really finished. I also have chives, cilantro and basil in pots. Hopefully we can make some homemade salsa this year! We've never done that, so it will be an experiment. :)

Piece of cake
One of the fun things about registering is you get free samples of stuff... including diapers. We could not believe how tiny this little diaper is! And, we couldn't help ourselves... we had to try it on something. I'll admit, we actually did put it on Oscar first, but he was so pitiful looking, I couldn't bring myself to post a picture of him. Fluffy will have to do. :)

On the Go
It seems that registering for baby isn't as much fun as buying things you don't really need... like frilly outfits and headbands, and cute decorations for the room. Matt and I went to St. Louis on Wednesday, where we met Megan, Patrick and Blake for lunch at Zia's on The Hill. After that, Megan, Matt and I went to Babies R Us to shop for baby stuff and add to our registry. I had heard the store can be quite overwhelming, and it was. It's true... there are 500 different kinds of bottles and nipples and pacifiers and strollers and car seats and diapers and wipes... and the list goes on. Megan was a big help in pointing out things that come in handy for her or things that are really not necessary. I would definitely recommend going with someone who's been there, done that when you go to register for a new baby. Yikes.
After that, Matt and I met Hannah and Bobby at Syberg's for some wings (and to pick up a case of sauce), then on to Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals beat the Reds. A great game... hot dogs and nachos were delish as always.
On Thursday we slept in (yessssss, that was much-needed after a busy Memorial weekend), then went shopping at Trader Joe's and World Market. I had never been in either store, and we loaded up on some things at TJ's that we (unfortunately) can't find in grocery stores around here and a few (unnecessary, yet too-cool-to-pass-up) items for our home and deck at WM. The highlight of our day was lunch at Applegate's. Megan recommended it, and boy were we glad we tried it. It's just a simple deli, but the food is made fresh daily and oh-so-good. I had a chicken salad sandwich on wheat with a cup of soup; Matt had a BBQ brisket sandwich with mac and cheese and potato wedges. We finished it off with a giant (and still warm from the oven) peanut butter cup cookie. Oh. My. Goodness. Good call, Megan.
We came home Thursday evening then got up early Friday and headed to Springfield for our monthly doctor's visit. It was just a quick check-up; all is well on the Baby Girl Wade front. (On that note, I guess it's time to put it out there... her name is Lola. We all call her that, so I might as well start writing it, too!) She has been kicking like crazy these days! I think she's going to be pretty feisty. :) We had sushi for lunch at Haruno (happy anniversary to us on Monday!), then shopped for Lola at Baby News and Target, adding a few items to our registry there. Then back home yesterday evening.
I'm getting ready to head to work for the rest of the day and again tomorrow morning. That's our week in a nut shell. Cheers!
