We're now 18 weeks along, and all is well with myself and Baby Wade. Nothing too new to report. We have a doctor's appointment and an ultrasound scheduled for next Friday (to confirm whether it's a girl or a boy). Besides that, we're just crossing the days off the calendar! I have to say, the first few weeks really felt slow... but, time is definitely starting to go by faster, and I can't believe we only have five months left!
I'm finally feeling the itch to start getting things ready, so we have lots of projects planned for this weekend in the baby's room - we're painting all the trim, baseboards, closet doors, etc., hanging new blinds, and hopefully choosing a paint color for the walls. Our second spare bedroom will remain a spare bedroom, but, right now it's cluttered with all of the stuff that used to be in the baby's room. So... while Matt is painting, I'll be sorting through all of that stuff, deciding what goes, what stays, and what needs to be moved to the garage. I also want to work in the garden this weekend. It's all tilled up and ready to be planted... we just need to decide what to put in it! I'm thinking lettuce, spinach (I know, those should already be in the ground... I'm a little behind!), lots of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and okra. I'm also planting some herbs in one of the big pots on the deck. (Pictures of all of this to come...)
On a food note... I made a tuna noodle casserole last night. (Recipe adapted from Cooking Light magazine.) Matt was VERY skeptical about this, but he liked it enough that he went back for seconds! (Either that, or he was just really starving.) I'd never made one before, so I was pretty excited about it. It was quite good! I'll post the recipe on the Living Well blog. (Oh, and in case you are wondering... yes, pregnant ladies are supposed to limit their tuna intake, and this is the FIRST tuna I've had since I've been pregnant. I used to eat it straight from the can multiple days a week!)

A celebrity sighting in P-town
On Saturday we hosted a fishing tournament and had a surprise celebrity appearance by professional fisherman, Roland Martin, of Naples, Fla. He apparently visits Douglas and Ozark counties each year to turkey hunt, and he usually fishes a tournament or two for fun. This year, he fished in ours and took second place! He was a really nice guy (and very tan, with very white teeth), and he stuck around after the weigh-in to talk to people about fishing, sign autographs and take pictures with anyone who wanted one (including my husband and my mother).

Yep, I really am!
It's so funny how when I tell people I'm pregnant, or when they see me for the first time after hearing the news... they always glance down at my "mid-section," then back at my eyes. I'm not really "showing" yet - well, I mean, if I wore spandex and a skin-tight shirt, then yes, you'd see a bump there. But, for the most part you can't really tell yet. I've even had a few people say, "Well, you don't look pregnant!" Thanks, I think. :) Just wait. I have a feeling one day soon it's going to pop, and then EVERYONE will know.
16 weeks now. Our little Wade is the size of an avocado this week. Mmm... guacamole, anyone?

Who was I kidding?
So, shortly after I found out I was going to be having a baby, I immediately started thinking about clothes (for me, not the baby). My first thought (and, I've even said this to a few of you, I know) was this: Eh, I'm not going to buy many maternity clothes... I can just wear some of the "looser" fitting clothes that I have!
Ha...ha ha ha...ha.
While I do have a few loose-fitting, comfy dresses, tunic tops and drawstring pants that I think I'll be able to wear for a while, I'm definitely going to need some actual maternity clothes before this is all said and done. I do have a head start on some stuff, though! My friend, Rebekah, sent me a whole box of clothes - opening that was like Christmas morning! And, my friend, Billie, gave me some great tops (including a lightweight hooded shirt that I've worn a dozen times already!)
And, naturally, I'm pretty excited to do some shopping myself. Who was I kidding? OF COURSE I'm going to buy clothes... it's what I do! Hehehe. :)

Good Saturday morning
What a beautiful morning. If I had woken up on the wrong side of the bed, it wouldn't have lasted long. The windows in our bedroom are open, and in the kitchen... and it's the most perfect temperature outside to cool the house. The birds are chirping, and I can even hear boats heading out on the lake. April is here, spring is here. Yay! It's going to be a good day.
What have we been up to? Well, many of you know my grandpa passed away a week ago Friday. Matt and I were in Austin, Texas, with Jess and Gabe when we got the news. So, we cut our trip short and headed back to Ozark County to be with family and for the services.
He lived a good, long, healthy life. You really can't ask for a better life... he was almost 90 years old (89 years and 10 months, to be precise)... he loved to drive really fast, go to the farm every day, eat lunch in town, read the paper (and aggravate the girls) at the gas company, eat chocolate cake and pie, and drink Coca-Cola from those little old-fashioned glass bottles. In his and my grandma's younger days, they traveled all over the country in a motor home - they visited all 50 states. He was a character. He could be gruff at times and was always to-the-point. When he was finished talking to you, he'd hang up or walk away, depending on the circumstances. He'll be missed by so many people!
In happier news, Baby Wade is about 3 1/2 inches now, and an ounce and a half. (About the size of a lemon!) I'm still feeling great. We have a monthly check-up next week... and after that... the ultrasound! Eeeeeeeee! We are counting the days. :)
