KC Girls Weekend

A couple of weekends ago, Jessica PB and I made a quick trip to KC to see the Mizzou girls (and Kate and Natalie, too), and all of their little girls! It was a quick weekend, but oh-so-fun, and I'm glad we were able to get together one more time pre-Lola. Both Billie and Beth have recently moved into new houses, so we got to see their new digs. We stayed with Beth, as she has lots of space! Saturday night we went to dinner at Bonefish Grill. It was really good. We started with their Bang Bang Shrimp - spicy and delicious. They offer several fresh fish options, and I went with salmon, knowing Matt would approve that choice - rich in omega 3's and good for Lola (as he likes to inform me). On Sunday morning we hung out and played with Miss Ellyson. Natalie brought Paige, Channing and Dillion brought Harper and Bo, and pretty soon we had all sorts of little girls running around playing hide-and-seek, shrieking and laughing. Woodsie played a big part in preparing a brunch, and so did Hannah - breakfast casserole, baked french toast, fruit, cinnamon rolls and pastries, coffee and tea. It was all delicious and followed by cake and cookies! Thank you, Billie and Beth, for hosting. Lola and I are officially as spoiled as we can be. Thanks, ladies, for all the great gifts - including our monitor, which is sleek and way cooler than either of our cell phones. I believe we are set. Now all we need is la-la-la-la Lola!

"Almost" 35 weeks

This is not a maternity shirt, and I think it's stretched to its limits here! Almost 35 weeks now. The weeks are ticking by in a hurry. Yesterday I was at work and someone asked if I were going to play basketball because it looked like I was carrying one under my shirt. Ha... ha ha... ha. :) Hope and Paxton came down yesterday, and we went for a boat ride. Then this morning Hope, Matt and I got up bright and early and went down to the lake to take some pictures. Hope is an excellent photog, and she has a great camera - I'm excited to see how they turned out. (As you can imagine, Matt wasn't sure what to do with himself... he kept asking, "Am I supposed to smile or not?" and "You want me to put my hands where?" He was a good sport.) According to my weekly update, Lola is probably weighing in at about 5 1/2 pounds now and 20 inches long. She's probably pretty close to her full length now... all she needs to do is keep filling out some more. The other day I told Matt, "As soon as she comes out I want you to count her fingers and toes." You always hear people say that, and now I get it... here's to 10 and 10!

Baby Shower

On July 31, Jessica PB hosted the most wonderful baby shower for Lola and me. It was held outside on her deck, with white table cloths, fresh flowers, colorful paper lanterns, umbrellas, little buckets of my favorite candies (!!), a delicious brunch, the cutest (and tastiest) cake ever and a fabulous turnout of friends and family. My friend Hope took lots of pics, and here are just a few...

Lola Morgan Wade...

Niece Madison comparing bellies with Aunt Jabet...

Lola's first pair of flip-flops - Reefs! (Thank you, Cindy!)

Delicious (and super cute!) cake...

The fabulous hostess and me...

Week 33 Stats

"Your baby is losing that wrinkled alien look."

This according to my weekly update. Good to know! 33 weeks today. Lola should be about 4 1/2 pounds now (the size of a pineapple) and 17 to 19 inches - almost as long as she'll be when she's born! Over the next few weeks, she'll start filling out and packing on the pounds - roughly 1/2 pound per week. Yikes! She's rolling, tumbling and stretching a lot now, and she has the hiccups at least once per day. :)

Lori and me (and Lola, too!)

On Friday night Matt, Gabe, Jess and I went to Lyle and Erin Uchtman's wedding reception in Mtn. Home... (Lyle is Lori's brother)... it was a fun time! Wish we could have stayed longer, but Matt and I had an early day Saturday getting ready for our annual customer appreciation party. And Jess and Gabe also had an early morning. A big congrats to Lyle and Erin on their wedding... AND, their little bundle-to-be!

32 Weeks

The countdown is on! Only eight weeks to go. Jessica PB hosted a baby shower for me on Saturday, and it was beyond awesome. I can't believe a tiny little thing needs this much stuff (she probably doesn't actually need four pairs of ballet slippers, but hey... ) It was the perfect day! Had so much fun seeing friends and family and witnessing their genuine excitement for us and for Lola to make her debut. It's still a little ways away, but any guesses on when she'll be born? (Official due date: Sept. 29 - Aunt Lindsey's birthday!)
