Matt and I drove to the Florida Keys and back last month. It took us about 22 hours to get there - we drove 15 hours the first day, spent the night in Lake City, Fla., then drove another 7 hours the second day and arrived in Islamorada that afternoon. In an effort to minimize our stops and eat as little fast food as possible, we packed our own snacks and drinks. During our 44 hours in the car (counting both down and back), we ate our weight in popcorn, peanuts, trail mix, peanut butter-filled pretzels and snack bars. Then when we got there, we ate REAL food; i.e. conch chowder (four bowls each); fresh, sushi grade yellow fin tuna; lots o' blackened dolphin and some cracked conch. In addition to all the good eats, we mainly just took it very easy...
We laid by the pool...

We rode bikes...

We rented a boat to go fishing...

We went to the beach...

And... here are the rest of the pics. Enjoy!

Makes me "homesick!"
Beautiful pics - how was the beach???
Cindy, the beach was okay... pretty small, but not bad for the Keys! There's a long boardwalk down there with covered picnic tables... would be fun to go with friends and take a cooler and hang out for the day. Heck, you could walk back to the condo if you had to. It's that close!
