The OC has been under two tornado warnings in less than a week. What is up, Mother Nature? Both times we really lucked out - no damage to the docks or to our home. Last Friday morning a wicked batch of weather pushed through the Ozarks, causing lots of damage north of here, but sparing Pontiac Cove, thank goodness. Josh got to ride it out at the marina, while Matt and I were preparing to drive to KC. We waited out the storm, of course, and as soon as it was over, we headed north. There were huge trees literally snapped in half and roofs missing from Ava all the way north of Bolivar. Last night more bad weather moved in, but it was all still pretty far west of us when Matt and I fell asleep. We woke to the phone ringing around midnight - a friend called to warn us that OzCo was under a tornado warning. Then Matt's grandma called to tell us the same thing. We switched on the TV and saw the local weather man was still up and at it, and the line of storms was close. We made a quick decision to load up the dogs and head over to my parents' house - they have a basement, and we don't. (They are out of town, so no one was home.) The storm really didn't amount to much, and as soon as it passed we came back home.
This was so funny, though... the dogs were sound asleep when we decided to go over there, but as soon as we pulled in my parents' drive they both perked up. They knew where we were. Honey and Oscar have special bones they get to chew on at "grandma's" house, and the bones are always lying around the house. Sure enough, Oscar immediately found one and gnawed viciously on the thing through the whole storm. When it was time to go, Oscar dropped his bone - he knows he can't take it with him - and we put the dogs back in the car, drove back home, and went back to bed. All this in the span of about 45 minutes. They both fell sound asleep when we got home. I told Matt they probably thought they were dreaming! Going to "grandma's" house in the middle of the night to chew on their favorite bones. It's a dream come true!
